How Exactly Does IPL Work?

How Long Does Treatment Take?

In most cases, a series of 6-8 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart is recommended for optimal results.
How Long Do the Results Last?

People with darker skin tones and/or darker hair may need to have more frequent treatments to maintain results. IPL and laser hair removal is considered permanent however, regrowth or new growth can occur over time usually due to hormonal factors. Looking after your treated skin by regularly moisturizing and exfoliating once a week may be useful in maintaining long-lasting results and gorgeous, soft skin.
What Will Happen During My Treatment?
When you arrive for your hair removal session, your expert technician will clean your skin and apply a gel. Your technician will place the handpiece on your skin and begin moving or gliding it along the skin. Pulses of light will be emitted from the handpiece targeting the melanin in your hair follicles.
The heat from the light pulses will damage the hair follicles and prevent them from being able to grow new hair. When the treatment is finished, your technician may apply a soothing cream or moisturizer to the treated area. After your session is complete, you will be able to immediately carry on with your day, not requiring any downtime or healing period. You will need to keep the treated skin out of harsh sunlight, wear sunscreen and avoid massages for at least 24 hours.
Who Is a Good Candidate for This Treatment?
This treatment is most effective on people with dark hair and light skin. People with blonde or red hair, or very dark skin, will need to come in for a consultation so we can evaluate if they will be a suitable candidate. The best results are usually achieved after multiple sessions, so interested parties must be willing to commit to a treatment plan and be patient while the full results develop. Patients should be healthy and notify us of any skin conditions they may have.
