What Skin Resurfacing Treatments Are Available?

RF Microneedling

This minimally-invasive cosmetic method of skin renewal uses both needles and radiofrequency energy to tighten and rejuvenate skin. During the treatment, a device with tiny needles is used to create microscopic punctures in the skin. This triggers the body’s natural healing process, which promotes collagen production. Collagen is a protein that keeps the skin tight, supple, and full of volume. It also prompts the body into turning over new skin cells, giving you a brighter and more even complexion.

As the needles make these micro-injuries, they simultaneously send RF energy into the dermal layers of the skin. The RF energy heats these deeper layers of the skin, which has skin tightening benefits, and stimulates even more collagen production. In doing this, it can make the treatment even more effective, with results developing faster and looking even more striking. This treatment can be used on the face, neck, and body with lasting results.

Erbium Yag Laser Resurfacing

An intense, laser resurfacing treatment for moderate to severe wrinkles, skin laxity, pigment and texture concerns on the face and body. This treatment provides excellent results without less down time than older, laser technologies.

Chemical Peel

This is a skin-resurfacing procedure in which a chemical solution is used to remove the top layers of skin. This can improve the appearance of acne scars, wrinkles, and sun damage. There are three types of chemical peels: superficial, medium, and deep. The deeper the peel, the more dramatic the results! These treatments are usually done in a series, spaced four to eight weeks apart.

The Perfect Derma Peel is the most advanced and effective, medical grade chemical peel available. The Perfect Derma Peel’s exclusive formulation provides superior results for aging skin, acne, hyper pigmentation and many other skin concerns. It is virtually painless with minimal downtime and can be used on any skin type.

IPL Photofacial

An IPL photofacial is a treatment that uses intense pulsed light (IPL) to target and improve the appearance of sun damage, fine lines, age spots, broken capillaries and other skin concerns. The light energy from the IPL device is absorbed by the pigment in the skin, which breaks up the melanin and helps to improve the overall tone and texture of the skin. These broken-down cells then leave the body via normal metabolic processes, leaving you with gorgeous, brighter skin.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning, or a DermaSmooth Facial, is a type of physical exfoliation that involves using a sharp blade to scrape off the top layer of dead skin cells and fine hair (peach fuzz). In eliminating these dry, dead cells and imperfections, patients see a more even skin texture and tone and can enjoy a more radiant complexion. Additionally, dermaplaning can help prep the skin for better absorption of skincare products. It is completely safe and gentle, and only takes about 30 minutes.

Personalized Facials

This much-loved treatment typically involves cleansing, exfoliation, massaging, and the application of moisturizers or masks to the face. Here at Trouvaille Med Spa, we offer many different types of facials that are always tailored to meet the specific needs of your skin. For example, you may want a facial that includes deep cleansing and exfoliation if you have acne-prone skin, or a more gentle facial if you have sensitive skin. Whatever your preference, enjoy 45 to 60 minutes of relaxation and pampering!

Ultra Sonic Facial

This non-invasive, painless facial uses cavitation to get rid of dead skin cells and other dirt on your face quickly and effectively. The ultrasonic machine uses vibrations created by a combination of electrical energies to gently exfoliate the skin, while also helping products applied to the skin penetrate its deeper layers. It can be used alongside a chemical peel or in between more invasive procedures, such as injectables, to keep your skin in optimal condition. We recommend coming in every 3-4 weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Do I Decide Which Treatment Is Right for Me?

The first step of your cosmetic journey will be to come in for an initial consultation with a member of our expert staff. This will be your chance to talk us through your skin concerns and your aesthetic goals. We will give you a skin examination and go over your medical history, noting any skin conditions you may have. Once we have this information, we’ll help you make an informed decision about which treatment will be the best option for you to deliver optimal results.

Is There Downtime Needed After These Treatments?

One of the reasons non-and-minimally-invasive treatments are so popular is that they don’t require any downtime afterward. Unique surgical options that see patients on bed rest for weeks after, you’ll be able to immediately resume normal activities, whether that’s heading back to work or running errands. Generally, we advise against a few things in the hours after treatment to help your skin heal, such as avoiding extreme heat and using retinoids, but this will be very short-term.

How Do I Prepare for My Treatments?

If you are undergoing multiple sessions as part of a treatment plan, we may encourage you to use gentle skin care products when taking care of your skin at home. This might mean avoiding retinoids and exfoliants or only using a very basic cleanser, as your skin may be more sensitive during treatment. It’s also important that you take steps to avoid sunburn or any injuries to your face. When you come in for treatment, we’ll ask that you come in with a clean, makeup-free face.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Skin Resurfacing Treatments?

People with superficial skin concerns such as fine lines, sun damage, scarring, acne, and hyperpigmentation are generally excellent candidates for these treatments. Unfortunately, certain medical conditions and skin conditions may render a person ineligible for these kinds of treatments. If, during your consultation, we discover that your concerns may be more severe than what can be treated with these methods, we can suggest a variety of alternatives, including dermal fillers or neuromodulators.
