At Trouvaille Med Spa, we offer microneedling benefits to patients who want brighter, more even, smoother skin. Located in Bourbonnais, IL, we proudly serve patients from all walks of life. What is microneedling, and what can it do for your complexion? Here’s what you need to know about the microneedling process — recovery, results, and more.

What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a skin treatment that creates controlled puncture wounds on the surface of your skin. When the microneedling pen punctures your skin, it stimulates your body’s wound-healing response. The result is an increase in collagen production, which builds skin elasticity and structure.

Many patients use microneedling treatments for skin contouring and tightening. However, there are benefits for your complexion as well. Microneedling reduces unwanted skin pigment, redness, and scarring.

You can think of microneedling as a treatment that hits the refresh button on your skin. Old, damaged skin cells are replaced with fresh collagen and elastin. Spots of pigmentation start to fade or disappear entirely.

The needles on the skin pen we use are tiny and barely detectable with your eyes. Your comfort is our top priority, and we make sure you feel at home before starting any microneedling services

What to Expect During Microneedling Recovery

One of the advantages of microneedling is that it has a quick recovery period. Most patients notice that their skin returns to normal after about 24 hours. In rare cases, it can take up to seven days to fully recover.

In order to know what to expect during recovery, it’s important to define your expectations. Some skin procedures require weeks of avoiding sun exposure, makeup, and strong skin care products. Microneedling isn’t quite that intense, but it can require lifestyle adjustments in the week following your appointment.

All About Microneedling Results

Microneedling results contain a healthy blend of skin resurfacing and immediate complexion improvements. This means the recovery time is intermediate — it could be much longer, but it’s not the shortest recovery out there.

Most patients notice some improvements in their skin immediately after their microneedling services are complete. Some patients claim their skin looks far more radiant after just one treatment.

Right after you leave our office, you may notice tighter, more elastic skin. However, it takes some time for your body’s collagen production process to catch up with the controlled injuries created by the skin pen. After one or two months, you should notice your full microneedling results.

The First 24 Hours After Microneedling

For 24 hours after microneedling treatments, you should be very gentle with your skin. Do not apply makeup, chemical exfoliants, or any other irritants. This will help your skin recover as quickly as possible.

Be careful in the sun since microneedling can make your skin extremely photosensitive. This means you need to wear SPF at all times when you’re outdoors, even if just for a few minutes. Avoid sun exposure as much as possible in the first 24 hours of microneedling recovery.

Days 1–3 After Microneedling

After one to three days, your skin should return to normal and be fully healed. You should still be cautious in the sun by wearing SPF and staying out of direct sunlight. However, your skin will lose a lot of the photosensitivity it had in the first 24 hours.

We highly recommend using hydrating, healing creams to speed up the recovery process. Your skin may need some extra moisture to heal the micro-injuries created during microneedling — this is normal.

By day three, your skin should be ready for makeup and normal skin care products. Always monitor your skin for any redness or dry patches before using your normal products again.

Microneedling Benefits: Improve Your Complexion

There are many microneedling benefits to consider when deciding on this procedure. If you want to revamp your complexion for the better, this might be the treatment for you. Here are the extensive benefits of microneedling.

Smooth Skin

Your skin naturally has some texture, but it shouldn’t take over your entire face. Skin texture can make applying makeup and skin care products a challenge each day. Microneedling promotes smoother, softer skin by replacing old skin cells with new ones.

After microneedling treatments, your skin undergoes a process called resurfacing. Skin resurfacing essentially replaces damaged or highly pigmented skin cells with brand-new young cells. These more youthful skin cells will feel softer and smoother for months to come.

Tighter, Contoured Skin

There are certain beautiful contours you might want to achieve when it comes to your skin and face structure. Microneedling promotes skin tightening by boosting collagen production in a controlled, safe way.

Your skin will tighten and become contoured to your bone structure after several microneedling treatments. The increased collagen and elastin production allows you to get that youthful, tight skin you’ve always wanted.

Bright, Radiant Complexion

Microneedling can create a brighter complexion for those who struggle with dullness and fatigued skin. In the areas of treatment, your complexion will appear to be more radiant and youthful and feel smoother and more even. What more could you want from a skin treatment?
